Water Aerobics Classes

Muletown Rec has over a half dozen regularly scheduled Water Fitness Classes throughout the week at a variety of intensity levels to suit all of our members.

Class Descriptions

Deep Water Aerobics

Deep Water Aerobics is taught in the deep end of the pool wearing a float belt to keeps you up for a higher intensity, low impact workout.  Designed to improve cardiorespiratory endurance, you will be doing a variety of exercises like aqua jogging, cross country skiing, and jumping jacks all while weightless in the water with no pressure on your joints.  The weightless class format helps alleviate chronic pain, especially in the back and hips.  Flexibility and overall strength are the focus in this medium intensity workout.

*A flexibility and cardio class, designed for those who have limited mobility. Modified to appropriately challenge each individual at a moderate intensity level and is taught in deep water.

Warm Water/ Lap Aerobics

Warm Water/Lap Aerobics is a full body workout taught in between our warm water and cool water pools so that you can chose the setting and intensity of your workout.  The class is a full body workout with cardio components, strength training, abdominal exercises, and complete stretching.

*A strength, stretch, and cardio class, designed for those who have limited mobility. Modified to appropriately challenge each individual at a moderate intensity level and is taught in warm or cool water.

Warm Water Tai Chi Aerobics

Taught in the warm water of the zero-depth entry therapy pool, Warm Water Tai Chi Aerobics is a combination class that is great for stress relief.  This gentle course focuses on improving posture and balance by strengthening the core.  Come breathe deeply in this ancient Chinese teaching of inner strength.  Slow movements also help to stretch the legs, arms, neck and back.  This combination style class enmeshes the far-east meditative and breathing techniques of a supported, in-water tai chi class with the toning and stretching of a lower intensity Warm Water Aerobics class.

*A flexibility and core class, designed for those who have limited mobility. Modified to appropriately challenge each individual at a low intensity level and is taught in the warm water.

Power Circuit

Power Circuit is a hydro-circuit class utilizing many different types of equipment to challenge the entire body.  This class is made unique by our experienced instructor with over 15 years of experience, tips, and exercises to share.  This water workout will help strengthen and tone muscles, while improving flexibility and cardio endurance.

*A strength and cardio interval class, designed for those who have limited mobility. Modified to appropriately challenge each individual at a moderate intensity level and is taught in the warm water.
